New Delhi, September 16: Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) and Titagarh Rail Systems Limited (TRSL) have signed a Joint Venture Agreement to promote a 50:50 Joint Venture Company (JVC) to carry out comprehensive maintenance of the supplied Vande Bharat Sleeper Trainsets.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Ms. Bani Varma, Director (Industrial Systems & Products, BHEL), and Mr. S M Ramanathan, Director (Engineering, Research & Development, BHEL), and other senior officials, by Ms. Shyamala Venkataraman, Executive Director (CTM, CSM & CC), on behalf of BHEL, and by Mr. Anil Kumar Agarwal, Deputy Managing Director, on behalf of TRSL.
In a major boost to India’s rail infrastructure, BHEL and TRSL consortium had earlier won an order from Indian Railways for supply of 80 Vande Bharat Sleeper Trainsets along with their comprehensive maintenance for 35 years.
As one of India’s premier engineering and manufacturing enterprises, BHEL brings decades of experience across power, transportation, defence, and aerospace sectors.
The JVC shall leverage the joint technical strength of both promoter companies for long-term lifecycle care of supplied trainsets. This will ensure the operational readiness, safety and reliability of the trainsets for their entire 35-year service life.
